In natural lighting, stand about 6 feet from a mirror and select the description that best fits your appearance:

1. WARM and Golden

My coloring is not too light or dark. My hair is golden to strawberry blond, golden brown, or red to auburn. My skin may or may not have freckles. My eyes may be blue, green, hazel, or topaz. 2. COOL and Soft

I have little to no yellow, gold, or red in skin, hair, and eyes. I am not too dark or light. My skin may be beige, pinky-beige or rose-beige but probably doesn't have a lot of color. My eyes are probably blue, blue-grey, grey, or slate. My hair is ash brown or deep ash blond, grey, salt and pepper, or black grey. Troubleshooting Guide

Don't try to fit yourself into a 'season'. Concentrate instead on overall impression: light or deep? soft or clear? cool or warm?

More Color Tips

The difference between deep and clear is the degree of contrast. Although deeps often have a lot of contrast, clears have more and very often have a lighter eye color than deeps
If you are having trouble choosing between light and soft, keep this in mind: lights have a delicate appearance. Their skin tone is more translucent than softs. Softs usually have opaque skin, multi-colored eyes and hair
Cools have very little red or gold highlights in their hair other than what results from sun exposure. They have no red or gold tones in their eye color. If there is any warmth, then try deep, clear, light, or soft instead
Warms have obvious golden tones and are of medium depth. If you think you might be warm but are very light, try light, and if you are dark try the deep category
